When it comes to choosing the best oils to use for your culinary needs, Olive Oil has always been tops on my list. Being by far one of the oldest culinary staples, it can be used in so many ways with so many dishes and unlike other oils, it smells and tastes good even on its own. Crusty bread dipped in Olive oil with Balsamic Vinger and parmesan cheese... Mmmm-Hmmm!
In fact, many cardiologists highly recommend taking 2 tablespoons of Olive Oil daily to improve blood cholesterol levels. This is because Olive Oil is rich in the good kind of fat, called Monounsaturated Fatty Acids (MUFAs), Phytonutrients, called Polyphenols and Antioxidants. Which basically means it is good for your Heart, Immune System and overall Physical Wellness.

The surprising thing is... it does not stop there-- What is good for your insides is even better for you outside because Olive oil used topically does wonders for your skin!
- Olive oil is a natural moisturizer that is great for dry sensitive skin ? Just apply on your face, after your facial wash, when you bathe. May also be applied on other rough dry areas of your skin. The oil will not mix with the water hence it won?t wash off. Include it in your daily beauty regimen and you won?t ever need over the counter moisturizers again.
- Olive oil relieves mild sunburn ? It acts as a moisturizer/sealant, keeping skin from drying out and flaking. Mix equal parts Olive oil and water in a container. Shake well, and apply to mild sunburn. Shake the mixture often while applying to keep the 2 elements from separating.
- Olive oil keeps your lips soft and supple ? A natural lip balm concoction combines Olive oil with equal parts beeswax. Put in a small glass jar and apply with fingertips any time.
- Olive oil conditions hair prevents and dry scalp ? When used as a natural hot oil conditioner, Olive oil strengthens and moisturizes hair. Massage directly onto scalp to moisturize it and prevent flaking and dandruff
- Olive oil cleans sensitive skin ? Olive oil is used as base for many soaps and creams, yet using it plain and pure is still the best for sensitive skin. Use it to remove make up using a cotton ball. Unlike most commercial make up removing products,it is even safe to use over your eyes.
- Olive oil is an awesome natural exfoliant? Mix a palmful of Olive oil with a either sugar, used coffee grounds or salt and massage onto skin in an estimated ratio of 1:1/2. The coarse grain textures of sugar, salt and coffee naturally remove dead skin while nourishing it with their respective anti-oxidants. The antioxidant hydroxytyrosol and vitamin E in Olive Oil helps prevent your skin?s cells from degeneration.
- Olive Oil makes a great DIY foot scrub for rough callused feet ? Mix equal parts Olive oil and honey, a third part sugar and a dash of lemon juice. Soak feet in warm water and massage the DIY foot scrub onto feet.
Just as a vehicle essentially needs an oil change every now and then, so do our bodies, which in essence are vehicles for our souls as well!
