Baseball America & Perfect Game Announce Top Prospect List

Waterloo, IA - Four Waterloo Bucks have been named to both the Baseball America and Perfect Game Top Prospect lists. Adam Dian, Blake Hickman, Aaron Rhodes, and Chesny Young were all honored by both publications as being one of the top 20 prospects in the Northwoods League.

Adam Dian, who is entering his junior season at Temple University, was named Baseball America's 13th top prospect and Perfect Game's 20th top prospect. Dian led Waterloo in saves with eight. The right-handed hurler had a dominant season out of the bullpen for the Bucks, finishing the year with a 2-0 record, a 0.35 ERA, and 48 strikeouts in 26 innings pitched. Originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Dian held opposing batters to a .144 batters and gave up just 13 hits during his 23 appearances. In August, Dian was named to the second team Summer Collegiate All-America team as a Relief Pitcher/Closer by Perfect Game. Dian was named to both the mid-season and post-season NWL All-Star Teams.

Blake Hickman, who is entering his sophomore season at the University of Iowa, was ranked as the fifth best pro prospect in the NWL by Baseball America and the seventh by Perfect Game. The pitcher/catcher hit .186 in 40 games for the Bucks, finishing the season with 13 RBI and three stolen bases. On the mound, the Chicago, Illinois native made six appearances, finishing the year with a 4.50 ERA and six strikeouts in six innings pitched. Hickman was a 20th round draft pick by the Chicago Cubs in 2012.

University of Florida pitcher Aaron Rhodes was ranked as the 21st and 24th best pro prospect in the NWL by Baseball America and Perfect Game, respectively. Originally from Venice, Florida, the right-hander led the North Division with 74 strikeouts. Now a sophomore, Rhodes ended the year with a 5-4 record in 11 appearances and a 3.19 ERA, which was the fifth-best in the NWL. Rhodes was named to both the mid-season and post-season NWL All-Star Teams.

Third baseman Chesny Young, now a junior at Mercer University, was ranked as the 10th and 27th best pro prospect in the NWL by Baseball America and Perfect Game, respectively. A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Young ended the '13 season leading the league in three categories: runs (62), walks (60), and on-base percentage (.470). Young hit .325 on the season and tied for fourth in the NWL in triples with three. Young was named to both the mid-season and post-season NWL All-Star Teams.
